What cookies and similar technologies Landlodz uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use closely related technologies - localStorage, sessionStorage and IndexedDB - to keep you signed in, remember your intake drafts and improve performance. Throughout this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these technologies.
Session cookies
Temporary - deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies
Remain on your device for a defined period or until you delete them.
First-party vs third-party
First-party cookies are set directly by landlodz.com. Third-party cookies are set by services we embed, such as Google Maps when a property map is rendered.
2. The categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always on)
Required for the website to function. These cookies do not need consent under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECT Act) because you cannot use the service without them.

2.2 Functional (opt-out)
- Language preference (English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa)
- Theme preference and density
- Saved filter and sort state in the planner portal
- Intake autosave drafts saved on your device
- Sidebar collapsed / expanded state and onboarding tour progress
2.3 Performance & analytics (opt-in)
- Aggregated page-view and feature-usage analytics
- Error and performance monitoring (Sentry-style tracing without PII)
- A/B test assignment for layout and copy experiments
2.4 Marketing (opt-in)
We do not currently set advertising or retargeting cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and re-prompt for consent before enabling them.

First-party (landlodz.com)

Payment provider cookies
- None. Landlodz invoices clients directly and is paid by EFT, so no payment gateway is embedded on landlodz.com and no gateway cookies are set.
Google Maps
- NID - Google Maps preferences (only when a map is rendered)
Analytics (opt-in only)
- _ga, _ga_* - aggregated Google Analytics 4 measurement · up to 24 months
- _gid - session-level Analytics identifier · 24 hours
4. Managing your cookie preferences
- You can change your choices at any time by clicking Cookie preferences in the website footer
- You can block, delete or restrict cookies in your browser settings (look for "Privacy" or "Site data")
- Most browsers offer a private / incognito mode that limits cookie persistence to the current window
- Disabling strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and notification features

5. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
Landlodz honours the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser by treating it as an opt-out of all non-essential cookies. There is no universal standard for the older "Do Not Track" header, but we still suppress analytics when it is present.
6. Changes to this policy
If we add a new cookie category or a new third-party service that sets cookies, we will update this page and re-display the consent banner before the change takes effect.
