    SG Diagram - R250

An SG diagram is the Surveyor-General's approved diagram of a registered erf: its boundaries, beacons, dimensions and extent. It is the document municipalities, planners, architects and conveyancers use to confirm exactly what land is being dealt with.

Landlodz retrieves the existing SG diagram for your property for R250 and emails it as a PDF. Note that an SG diagram is retrieved from existing records, never generated - if the land has never been surveyed or you need new boundaries pegged, that is a new survey by a licensed land surveyor, which is a different service.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does an SG diagram cost?+

Landlodz charges R250 for an SG diagram retrieved from Surveyor-General records, or R600 bundled with a title deed copy. Landlodz is not VAT-registered, so there is no VAT added.

What is an SG diagram used for?+

It confirms the surveyed boundaries, dimensions and extent of an erf. Municipalities require it for subdivision, consolidation, rezoning and building plan submissions.

Do I need the erf number to order one?+

It helps, but it isn't required. Province, municipality and owner details are usually enough for us to match the property - a suburb or erf number just speeds it up.

Is an SG diagram the same as a site plan?+

No. An SG diagram is the Surveyor-General's record of the legal boundaries. A site plan shows proposed buildings and layout on the erf and is drawn for a specific application.

Can you create an SG diagram if one doesn't exist?+

No - SG diagrams are retrieved from existing records. If the land has never been surveyed, you need a licensed land surveyor to survey and lodge a new diagram.
